You are allocated 30 days of study leave per academic year, 20 days are used for the rotational teaching. OITE, UKITE and Regional meetings etc. This does not actually cover all the days of teaching provided. This will leave 10 days for other courses.

Exam related courses will be funded once only in the six year of training.

Agreement from your educational supervisor and leave administrator is required 6 weeks prior to the course.

Please note that the following will not be funded in future:
1. ATLS Instructor Course
2. Any courses or leave pertaining to gaining a diploma or higher degree.
3. USMLE
These are optional, and not part of your primary aim which is to pass the FRCS (TR/ORTH) and be trained in the generality of orthopaedics and trauma.

All funded courses should have a learning content with a specific purpose toward the exam.  Attendance at meeting such as the BOA and specialist societies meetings is encouraged and may also be funded, especially if you are presenting.  Overseas meetings and courses are judged on individual merit.
